If you decide to proceed after scoping

Fee dependent on case complexity, documentation volume, urgency, and number of parties involved.

If the case is not suitable for assessment at Step 1, there is no obligation to proceed and you will not be charged for the full assessment.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS

Four Structured Steps

Each stage is carefully designed to build a complete picture of the referral question, clinical history, and functional impact – so our clinicians can prepare a clear, defensible, court-ready report.

Referral & Case Review

Referral from solicitor, GP, insurer, agency, or self-referral · Fee agreed at this stage

Once a referral is received, we will:

  • Review the referral source and clarify the specific legal or occupational questions
  • Determine whether the case is suitable for assessment
  • Confirm the proposed scope of work, fee structure, and estimated turnaround
  • Identify what background documents will be required
Referral & Case Scoping

Step 2

Comprehensive Assessment

Duration:typically 60–120 minutes · Primarily secure video consultation · In-person or hybrid on request

The assessment includes a detailed psychiatric evaluation. This may include:

  • Review of presenting concerns and current mental state

  • Structured clinical formulation in relation to the referral question
Comprehensive Evaluation

  • Additional sessions where cases are complex

Step 3

Report Preparation

Timeframe: typically 10–15 working days

Following the assessment, the clinician will prepare a comprehensive structured report. Reports may include:

  • Background and referral context
  • Relevant psychiatric history
  • Clinical findings and mental state observations
  • Diagnosis, where applicable
  • Causation, where relevant to the legal question
  • Functional impact on daily life, work, relationships, or parenting
  • Prognosis and risk considerations
  • Clear, balanced, and defensible professional opinion
Report Preparation

All reports are prepared in a clear and professional format suitable for legal, occupational, or clinical use. Standard turnaround: 10–15 working days. Expedited reports available on request.

Step 4

Clarification / Follow-Up

If required following report delivery

  • Clarification for instructing solicitors or agencies
  • Supplementary letters or addendum reports
  • Updated opinions where new information becomes available
  • Court attendance / expert witness input by separate arrangement

Additional fees may apply for follow-up work beyond the original agreed scope.
