Referral Process
Four steps from referral to report
Every referral follows the same route, so you know what happens next and when.
Step 1
Submit your referral
Complete the referral form on this page. Include a brief case summary, the specific questions you need addressed, relevant documentation, and any deadline you’re working to.
The clearer the referral question, the more directly the report can answer it. If you’re unsure how to frame it, call us before submitting.
Step 2
Scoping & confirmation
We review the referral, confirm suitability, and come back to you with the proposed scope, fee, and turnaround — usually within 2 working days. For medico-legal and parental capacity work, an initial case review consultation is arranged at this stage.
Step 3
Assessment
Your client or patient is contacted directly to schedule. Assessments are conducted online via secure video consultation, with in-person or hybrid arrangements available on request where clinically indicated.
Step 4
Report & follow-up
The completed report is issued securely to you within the agreed timeframe. Clarification, addenda, and case discussion are available where required.

Fee confirmed after scoping, based on case complexity, documentation volume, and urgency. Invoicing to the instructing firm or agency available on agreement.
- No work is undertaken, and no fee is incurred, until scope is agreed. If a case is not suitable following initial review, there is no obligation to proceed.

Confidentiality & data handling
- All referrals are handled in line with GDPR and Irish data protection requirements.
- Documentation is transferred and stored securely, and reports are released only to the agreed recipient.
- Client consent is obtained before any assessment proceeds.
- The limits of confidentiality are explained clearly where a report is prepared for a third party.
